BolaWrap Successfully Deployed on Aggressive Homeless Immigrant in Bolzano, Italy
On January 25, 2024, the Bolzano Police Department in Italy successfully used the BolaWrap solution while conducting clearance operations beneath the A22 viaduct at the Roma bridge.
As the police ordered individuals in the fenced-off area along the Eisack river to remove tents and belongings, one occupant, a homeless immigrant, became increasingly aggressive towards the officers. While most people dispersed, this individual grabbed a rock from the ground, turning away from the officers. At that moment, a BolaWrap Instructor from the local police, equipped with BolaWrap, successfully detained the individual, who was subsequently arrested.
The intervention was successfully executed without any reported injuries, aligning with the goal outlined by the councilor for social policies, Juri Andreollo, to prevent hazardous situations and ensure the safety of homeless individuals.
